The surge tank is poured and complete, and the retaining wall is coming together, too. This past week the concrete pump truck arrived so they could pour the retaining wall, which is shaped out by wood and other supports. Then concrete is poured in between the wood and once the concrete is solid the wood supports are removed leaving a strong concrete retaining wall. I have never seen a concrete pump truck before and I was pretty impressed.
The truck hooks up to a concrete mixer truck, which pours concrete into the pump truck. A huge hose hangs from the concrete boom, and the operator can control it with a remote control. The construction crew below guide the hose to pump the concrete in the right sections of the ride..
