Santa Mail Statistics

by Staff

Here at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, we know part of the fun and magic of Christmas when you're a kid is making a wishlist for Santa. As Santa has a workshop set up at Busch Gardens Christmas Town, it's no surprise that he gets a fair amount of mail at the park. This year, we helped Santa and his elves go digital. With their parents' help, children could fill out a digital letter to Santa and get a response back from his elves. Every Friday up until Christmas, Santa read some of his digital and paper mail, collected at an in-park mailbox and the North Pole workshop, live on Facebook.

Letters to Santa Broadcast, Live on 12/16

Santa Claus received over 1,000 letters at his Busch Gardens Williamsburg address over the course of a month. The elves in charge of Santa Mail, as it's affectionately known at Christmas HQ, provided us with a few fun statistics from the letters.

A wishlist to Santa just wouldn't be complete without a few toy requests and here are the top 15 toys requested from Santa Claus:

Outside of toys, children had some very sweet (and imaginitive) wishes for Christmas. Here are the top five Christmas wishes:

Just outside the top five wishes was getting a puppy for Christmas. So now you know, unicorns: more popular than puppies.

Finally, there are a lot of names on the nice list, but a few names came up more frequently than the rest. The top girl and boy names signed on the letters were Isabella and Lucas, respectively. After doing a little digging, we discovered that many of the above names coincidentally were listed as top baby names 4-6 years ago.

And as for us? Our number one Christmas wish is that you and your family have a very merry Christmas and that Santa brings you all that you ask for and more.
