Avast ye park lubbers! Venture down to the Globe Theatre in England, where you can witness a piece of timeless park history as our “flagship” 4-D show, Pirates 4-D, returns for the summer.
This 4-D family favorite film originally opened in 1998 with a life-size replica of a Pirate ship in the village. The film features the comic genius of Leslie Nielsen and a cast of comic all-stars. Produced exclusively for Busch Gardens, it was one of the first films to feature 4-D effects like wind, surround sound speakers and seat buzzing.
This is not the first time Pirates 4-D is making a return engagement at the park. After a two-year hiatus in 2002-2003, Pirates 4-D returned in 2004 until the opening of Lights, Camera, Imagination!, part of Sesame Street Forest of Fun, in 2009. Pirates features some amazing 3-D up-close sequences, complete with stinging bees, splashes of water and flying bats.
I am not a huge fan of bees, so seeing a five-foot wide bee and a seat that shakes in a show gets me every time. The show centers on a young man who was the cabin boy aboard the ship of notorious pirate Captain Lucky. One by one each of his crew have disappeared with hilarious results.
Don’t miss your chance to see this classic Busch Gardens original return this summer, and be on the lookout for a few added surprises.
Did you see Pirates during it s original run, reprise run, or will this be your first?
