During this time of year Water Country USA is closed and buttoned up for the season. The Water Country USA team gets the opportunity to come support our sister park, Busch Gardens. The past two months we have helped operate the “13 Your Numbers Up” and “Bitten” haunted houses for Howl-O-Scream. I spent 17 years working at Busch Gardens, so I especially enjoy seeing old friends and working back in my home park.
Busch Gardens is now closed for a few weeks to make a dramatic transformation. The change from Howl-O-Scream to Christmas Town is unbelievable. During October when I walked through the park after 6 p.m. someone always manages to make me jump or scream, so I walk around on edge waiting for the scare. But in December the feeling is completely different, the peaceful Christmas feeling can be felt all over the park.
Our entertainment and theming groups work tirelessly to strike all of Howl-O-Scream and put up Christmas Town decorations and lights. The result is amazing. But it’s not just the decorations and lights that change the feeling. It’s the expectation that everyone brings. We don’t walk around thinking someone is going to jump out of the bushes as say “Boo.” We walk around listening to Christmas songs, smelling the smells of Christmas and enjoying time as a family.
Visit our Facebook page to watch the dramatic changes.
I hope to see you out in the park during Christmas Town. It will be a magical event, I promise.
