It’s hard to think about Christmas this early, but really it’s just around the corner. I know, Howl-O-Scream just ended, but did you know that Christmas Town opens in three weeks? The park is undergoing an immense, quick turnover from Howl-O-Scream to Christmas Town at this moment. When I say quick, I mean it. Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream ended on Sunday and as I was in the park on Monday afternoon, Howl-O-Scream striking was in full force. Only a few remnants remained and it had only taken one day.
As a member of the operations team, our role is really a supporting one right now. We have several team members assisting the Entertainment department with strike down and set-up. We’ll continue to conduct tours of the park and assist with clean up. We’ll go full force with moving furniture, placing heaters and setting queues in the next week or two.
Right now, I am playing more of an administrative role getting the operations team set up for a new season. It’s time to start verifying schedules and availabilities of our team members, ensuring costume changes and helping to prepare new roles for those who will be working with us through the end of the year. Set-up for special events and training on new roles and responsibilities will soon follow.
The park is buzzing with all of the activity going on right now. People are in and out all day long to make for a successful transition. They sure are working hard to get everyone into the Christmas spirit. Remember, Christmas Town opens November 26.
